Heroes of the Skies: The Courageous Legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen
02/06/25
The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African-American military aviators in the U.S. Air Force, training at Tuskegee Army Airfield in Alabama. Known as the Red Tails, they flew over 15,000 missions during WWII, earning 150 Distinguished Flying Crosses and pushing forward the integration of the military. Their story transcends aviation; it is a testimony to their extraordinary courage and determination under systemic discrimination. Despite flying with lesser equipment and facing racial prejudice, they proved their skill and significantly impacted the civil rights movement within the military.
